General strike in Greece hits international train traffic
24/02/2010

The 24-hour nationwide general strike in Greece has hit the international train traffic between Bulgaria and Greece on Wednesday, the press center of the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) announced.

The two morning international trains between Sofia and Thessaloniki have been cancelled. So have the two afternoon ones.

On Tuesday the Romania train from Bucharest to Thessaloniki (via Sofia) was running only to Sofia. On Wednesday morning the same train, which travels from Thessaloniki to Bucharest, departed for Bucharest from Sofia central railway station, instead of Thessaloniki station.

BDZ EAD will grant a refund to all its customers who have bought tickets for the cancelled trains to Greece in advance.
